What made you choose RareJob as your company?
Yanna Katrina Vasquez
Junior ESL Content Developer
I actually started out as a RareJob tutor back in college. I found the materials of good quality, especially Daily News Article. I wanted to know its process, how it’s written, revised, etc. So, after finishing school and taking a short break, I decided to apply, and I got in.

Yanna Katrina Vasquez

It’s been a rollercoaster ride. There were many ups and downs, but I’ve learned—and grown—a lot. I’m thankful for these experiences because they helped shape who I am now, like my work attitude and my outlook in life.

Share with us what a typical day is like for a Content Developer.
Yanna Katrina Vasquez
Junior ESL Content Developer
A typical day for an ESL content developer starts with reading—lots of reading—then answering messages, preparing for meetings, and attending meetings. Outlining and drafting—actual work—come next. Once those are done, and if the content developer still has time, she can revise what she’s written or start preparing for next day’s work.

As a writer, what can you say are the pros and cons about your current work setup? What adjustments did you have to make in order to retain your productivity and stay motivated?
Yanna Katrina Vasquez
Junior ESL Content Developer
Working from home is the ideal work setup for me since I find myself more productive and focused. No more worries and stress about commuting to and from the office. I don’t have to set my alarm clock so early just to reach the office on time. I also don’t have to cram everything in a day just so I can leave early and avoid rush hour. Though, I suppose one con isn’t being able to see my workmates and participate in office gatherings/parties. But it’s fine with me; we can always talk via calls and messages and hang out online.

What techniques do you implement in your day-to-day work to ensure that you meet your deadlines and level of quality?
Yanna Katrina Vasquez
Junior ESL Content Developer
I establish and follow, as much as possible, a fixed routine in my day-to-day work. I plan my work week ahead of time and leave enough wiggle room in case some tasks get re-delegated to me. I also take plenty of short breaks to help my brain recharge.

While we work remotely, how does your team encourage collaboration and teamwork?
Yanna Katrina Vasquez
Junior ESL Content Developer
My team and I work on varying projects; sometimes we’re in the same project, sometimes we’re not. Despite that, we always make sure that our communication lines are open so we can talk and help each other out. We also have monthly cultivations where we relax, vibe, and take our much needed break.

With many aspiring writers and content developers out there who are interested in becoming part of the ESL industry, what advise can you give them as someone who is already set in that career path?
Yanna Katrina Vasquez
Junior ESL Content Developer
I think one advice I can give is to be patient. There’s going to be a lot to unlearn and unpack in the ESL industry, and patience will help you navigate it all. Just stick with it, and in no time you’ll discover how much you’ve learned and experienced while being part of this industry.
