How long have you been working for RareJob Philippines, Inc.?
Jeano Reyes
Marketing Operations Specialist
I’ve been with RareJob for five years now, turning six this July. I initially started as a tutor evaluator in 2016, then transferred to the team in charge of tutor engagement because I love organizing events. In 2018, I met a lot of tutors through our events. The exposure helped me understand our tutors’ perspectives, and it made me appreciate my work even more. As the company grows, more teams are formed. Now, I’m part of a new team as a Marketing Operations Specialist.

What made you choose RareJob as your company?
Jeano Reyes
Marketing Operations Specialist
I initially applied for a position in RareJob because it was a Japanese company, and I wanted to work for one because of the culture and values. I highly value continuous improvement, whether work-related or personal growth, and I found that trait in RareJob. I also really like how customer-centric the company is, so I want to apply that trait to our Filipino audiences.

As a Marketing Operations Specialist, how has the experience been so far?
Jeano Reyes
Marketing Operations Specialist
So far, as a Marketing Operations Specialist, my tasks are pretty challenging. However, I find it enjoyable because I get to learn more about the ever-changing digital marketing. More than that, I always look forward to collaborating with our tutors, especially with the different content we put out on our social media platforms, to feature them and highlight their colorful lives.

Being in Marketing, how does the work-from-home setup affect your tasks and responsibilities?
Jeano Reyes
Marketing Operations Specialist
The pandemic has shaken the routine that we were used to, and there are pros and cons to working remotely. What I like the most about the WFH setup is that I enjoy the time flexibility. I was able to pursue further studies with this kind of setup, and there is no time pressure to get to places, so I’m able to swap my travel time for additional study time. However, I get to spend less face time with my teammates. I think that creativity and productivity would be better when we collaborate and interact face-to-face so we can communicate and express ourselves with non-verbal cues. I believe that this is highly important, especially since we deal with creative outputs for our online audiences.

Share with us what a typical day is like in Marketing.
Jeano Reyes
Marketing Operations Specialist
Early in the morning, we do our own tasks; then, before lunchtime, we usually talk to some of our tutors with whom we collaborate. In the afternoon, we usually conceptualize ideas and prepare for our social media content.

What do you think are the highlights of your job, as well as the most important aspects?
Jeano Reyes
Marketing Operations Specialist
For me, the highlight of my job is communication. Being in marketing, we need to keep in mind that we have to clearly communicate the messages that we want to share: the vision of RareJob as well as the opportunities it provides to the Filipinos, and experiences of our tutors – the ones who truly change lives one lesson at a time – through storytelling.

While working remotely, what are some things that you do to keep yourself from being burnt out?
Jeano Reyes
Marketing Operations Specialist
After work, I usually spend time reading cases for graduate school. When the weather or COVID protocol permits, I walk outside with my nieces to get some fresh air and spend time with them. Strolling around has become our new pastime since we are inside the house most of the time.

With professionals gaining interest in marketing, what tips can you give those who are currently in this career path, or those who are considering switching to it?
Jeano Reyes

My advice is to keep learning! Marketing is a broad field. There are a lot of paths to take, and there are so many opportunities in this dynamic discipline. Most importantly, it is essential to keep yourself updated with the latest trends, terms, and tools to get a better understanding of your consumer and their behavior.
