Hi! My name is Sarah! I have been working in RareJob Philippines for a little over two years now as a Trainer. My work as a Trainer involves a lot of researching, developing, facilitating, and evaluating our company’s training programs, ensuring that the learning needs of our stakeholders are achieved, training quality standards are met, and that we are able to contribute to the organizational goals.

But my, oh my! Hosting an event as fun-filled and energetic as the Virtual Halloween Event had its own challenges I personally had to learn to manage. The biggest challenge was how we could maintain everyone’s attention and high energy throughout the entire event. After all, the theme for this year’s Halloween event was 2024 Halloween Celebration: A Halloween of Emotions. Everyone has different ways of dealing with their own emotions and, as one of the hosts, it was my job to bring everyone together in an event that aims to understand how to navigate our emotions. Thankfully, with the help of the Human Resources Department, there were lots of interactive games, thought-provoking questions, and an insightful talk about how to handle emotions by our guest speaker. As an added effort, I actually dressed up as a blue elf for the event itself.

I personally enjoyed hyping everyone up during the raffle draws. My co-host and I made sure to keep everything casual and fun, doing our best to interact with everyone’s responses and keeping the energy up. Many of the games and activities we had during the event focused on each emotion such as Joy, Sadness, Embarrassment, Nostalgia, and many others. There were also traditional costume contests for the kids and the fur babies of RJPH employees. We couldn’t help but gush about the participants’ outfits and how creative everyone was in coming up with those costumes.

The whole event has taught me that our emotions have their own purpose, even the challenging ones. It’s easy to embrace positive emotions and hide the negative ones. But I learned that all of these play key roles in our lives and it is up to us to determine where it comes from and how to address these emotions in a healthy and constructive way. It takes time to achieve a sense of balance in how we navigate our emotions, but it will definitely get easier with time.

This year’s Halloween Event was a total success, in my opinion. The concept of emotions collectively brought everyone together in such a fun and creative way during the spookiest time of the year. Perhaps next year, another fun-filled theme awaits the RJPH employees and those who would join RareJob Philippines. Either way, Halloween Events here are definitely something to look forward to! 🙂
