Summer getaway, the RareJob way!

Employee Journals

Imagine being an employee in a company that demands your presence for an out of town outing on a weekday just to have fun and enjoy water activities with your fellow employees in an Inflatable Island………

Sounds fun, right? Well, please keep on reading. There’s more to it.

To our dear blog readers, my name is Meg, a proud RareJob Philippines, Inc. employee. Let me show you a glimpse of what it feels like to be part of the RareJob family.

Last May 24, 2019, we had our Company Summer Outing at Zambales’ Inflatable Island. Seeing outing-related announcements and invites (such as this info poster) through the company’s chat group, weeks before the event is such a wonderful distraction from work. Our company’s HR team really knows how to make the employees look forward to exciting company events all year round. (Our company also holds office events for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Halloween – just to name a few.)

When we arrived at the venue, the employees were welcomed with team building activities which gave chances for all the employees to bond, interact, and socialize with each other in a fun and playful way. Some of the strongest bonds are forged through challenges and circumstances, but here we find it through combined activities of competition and fun. It’s such a precious moment because it’s not every day that employees, coming from different departments/teams, get together and enjoy each other’s company, since we’re all normally occupied with our own office tasks.

The fun didn’t end there, though. Brave souls from the bunch were asked to volunteer to take the honor of being the first ones to go through the Inflatable Island obstacle course.

It sounded intimidating at first since it involved water which had varying depths and differently designed obstacles which may look hard to navigate for first-timers; although it was mandatory that everyone wears a life vest while on the Inflatable Island to ensure safety.
It was so fun and amusing to watch our brave employees slip and slide as they plunged themselves in the Inflatable Island obstacle course since they looked like they were having so much fun. Watching them run, glide, bounce, crawl, jump, and swing through the different stations makes me want to join them already at that very moment.

Soon after, we were asked to return to our benches for a special awarding, care of our very own CEO, Inaba-san. Being the creative team that they are, our HR team prepared special awards to recognize the runner-ups and champion team for the team building activities, the RareJob MVP, the male and female superbods, and the male and female best in summer wear.

I definitely wasn’t expecting my name to be called for one of the people for best in summer wear, so to receive a special award was already a bonus in itself, but to also receive an additional prize that comes with such an award is the cherry on top. Thank you, RareJob, for showing your love and appreciation to your employees in the most adorable ways. The male awardee and I were both coincidentally wearing clothes in shades of green, which was the RareJob color, so that was a plus point, I guess? Hehe!

After the awarding, the lunch buffet table was finally ready to serve the employees with delicious food.

Happy, smiling, contented faces can be seen everywhere. Our much-needed quality time with each other is finally happening.

The only thing left for us to do was to wait for our food to properly digest, and then we had the whole afternoon as our free time. And by free time, I meant:

1) To get henna tattoos

2) To laugh our hearts out

3) To just chill and catch up with officemates while enjoying the summer vibes and beach view

avatar

4) To let loose and play Frisbee

avatar

5) To pose for the camera and achieve that Instagram-worthy post

6) And of course, to wear that life vest on and experience what Inflatable Island has to offer
(P.S. It’s not every day you get to ride the same unicorn floaty with your company’s CEO)

Thank you, RareJob, for putting smiles on our faces on that memorable day!

avatar

Thank you for making it easy for us to stay and be loyal to such a fun-loving company because you never failed to put balance in working hard and playing hard.

avatar

Thank you for making sure that we left the place with happy and contented hearts.

Thank you, RareJob family, for not only making the company outing a fun success but also for making our office life a wonderful journey in itself.

Last year, RareJob brought its employees to Aqua Planet, and then this year, to Inflatable Island. I can’t help but think what next summer destination will be. For now, we wonder and look forward to the exciting times ahead.

That’s it for this year’s RareJob Company outing! We enjoyed it so much and we hope more people will have the chance to experience the RareJob culture.
