This month of June, we celebrate our Independence Day not only by remembering our heroes, but also by embodying the values they lived by.

We Filipinos have many core values we carry on in our daily lives, many of them revolving around our shared identity and treatment of others – kapwa. We place much importance in unity, cooperation, and maintaining our relationships with others, so much so that we bring them everywhere we go, even our place of work.

The month of love may have already passed, but that doesn’t mean showing appreciation to our co-workers is out of style. Handling targets and projects may be all in a day’s work for employees, but making sure they are motivated and well-supported makes all the difference.

For many Filipinos, welcoming the new year often means setting goals and envisioning what we hope to achieve in the months ahead. It’s a time when we can reflect on the past year with gratitude, and move forward with renewed hope.

I began my journey with RareJob in 2015 as an Online English Tutor. The following year, I applied for an office-based position and became a Performance Evaluator and Mock Student.

I’ve been a part of RareJob since 2019. I started as an Operations Associate and now I’m an Operations Specialist for the Onboarding Team. I mostly work on the backend of onboarding operations by making sure that all sessions go smoothly for our coaches, and that tutors and applicants are supported throughout their applications.

Back in June 2023, I joined RareJob as a part-time support associate—a decision that has significantly shaped my journey as a college student. College comes with a lot of responsibilities, including the need to manage expenses for academic requirements. When a friend shared an online job posting for RareJob, I was intrigued by the idea of a part-time work-from-home setup and immediately seized the opportunity. Fast forward to the present, it’s been one year and six months since I became part of the Operations Support Team, where we primarily address inquiries related to tutors’ schedules, lessons, and other concerns. Being in this role has not only supported my studies but also taught me the value of balancing responsibilities and seizing opportunities.

When planning for anything, we often have the need to get all aspects down to the letter. For weddings, the attention to detail and the effort given is on an entirely different level. However, there are some things out of our hands that take place, which could shake even the most rock-solid of plans.

One indispensable factor to a company running mostly on a work from home setup is a reliable IT foundation. From network access, hardware concerns, and even usability of various applications needed for tasks, it is safe to say that the IT Infrastructure  Department of RareJob PH definitely stepped up to the challenge.

Working from home has given us quite a few benefits: skipping out on traffic entirely, a customized and comfortable working space, and more time for ourselves. Many of us who enjoy this work setup also enjoy more time with their families, pets included!
